'PLEASE HOLD' BY A COMPANY OF SIX (2020/2021)

'A Company of Six' was formed as part of a production module in the final year of my Acting degree. We wrote and produced our play which followed a call centre helpline for customers of a sex doll company. Alongside the three call girls, and the strange and comical phone calls they dealt with on a daily basis, it followed the story of Marshall and his doll, Precious, whom he had personally modified to become the most progressive sex doll yet.

Our show was first performed at The Showroom, Chichester on Friday 20th November 2020 for the module examination, and subsequently had a run at the Tunbridge Wells Fringe Festival in July 2021.

Social Media & Events

SOCIAL MEDIA & EVENTS COORDINATOR

As the original production of Guinea Pigs could not go ahead due to the pandemic (further explained later), Dare Aiyegbayo's play was produced by our department to be performed by our graduating Acting class, directed by Hannah Gittos.

Alongside playing the part of Fenella to an audience both in- person and online, I carried out social media coverage over the rehearsal period and managed ticket sales for the show.

In my final term, I was hired by the Head of Department, Ben Francombe, to plan and lead virtual events for future applicants. This included professionally filming and presenting videos on the department, running social media accounts and becoming a 'face' for applicants to turn to. Opportunities came alongside the role, such as featuring on the University of Chichester's 'Be You' Podcast both term-time, and on my graduation day, and hosting interviews with senior lecturers about the artistic work they create.

This role gave me new skills in planning and running live and recorded virtual events, both in preparation and execution.

Solo Performance

'WORTH KNOWING' - SOLO PERFORMANCE

In March 2021, I created a digital 15-minute comedy solo show for my Solo Performance module. 'Worth Knowing' was a project I wrote, performed, filmed and edited from home as in-person performances were stopped due to the pandemic.

The film covered the topic of the vagina, and why it should be normalised in society today for women and people who have vaginas. We need to help people feel comfortable talking about this taboo subject, especially when faced with medical complications. The comedy and musical parody follows the story of a girl growing up, being told not to speak about her 'downstairs region' and her very awkward and exciting experiences as a young woman discovering her body.

The show was initially being written for stage, so when the decision was made to go digital, a lot of changes had to be made quickly and efficiently to convey the same audience experience via a virtual platform.

The digital performance was also later streamed at our department's Solo Showcase in April, and received a first- class grade.

Screen

SCREEN: IN-FRONT & BEHIND THE CAMERA

In October 2020, we carried out our final screen acting module of our degree, filming our showreels. I was given the opportunity to film my own scenes alongside taking on the role of Production Assistant on set.

This was a great experience as I got to see behind- the-scenes of a filming set - learning about lighting and sound for camera, working both indoors and outdoors, as well as the organisation, risk assessments and scheduling of a working day on set.

Marketing Manager

MARKETING MANAGER

In my second year, I was offered the role of Marketing Manager for our Third Years' Final Production. This was a voluntary role I took on alongside my degree, and I was so grateful as I learnt many things that were not covered on my course.

Although, due to the pandemic the performance was unable to take place, a lot of my work had already begun. It was an amazing opportunity as I was able to see a production be brought to life by a collaborating production team. We were privileged to have worked with two professional women in the industry, playwright Dare Aiyebayo and director

Emma Bernard.

I was honoured to be given this role because I was already Social Media Officer for the Acting Degree and experienced in reviewing and sharing content from within the arts industry online.

As Marketing Manager, I was responsible for social media, creating the programme, press releases, hiring a videographer and photographer, and liaising with the performance locations, both in Chichester and London,

regarding ticket sales and advertising.

This role provided me with a unique experience of working behind the scenes on a production, using skills not covered in my degree's curriculum. I found a real passion in working within a determined production team in bringing an initial

idea to life.
